One of the best-known books by Louis-Aimé Martin (1782-1847), who is not a scientist but a writer. "Lettres à Sophie" was a great success from its first publication. The book, consisting of two volumes, is composed on the model of "Lettres sur la mythologie" by Demoustier.
The author thus successfully combines the erudition and elegance of writing.
