Baron de Fain is a close witness to Napoleon. in 1806 he entered the private cabinet of the Emperor Napoleon I with the title of secretary-archivist. Attached to the person of the Emperor, he accompanied him in all his campaigns and was created by him baron of the Empire in 1809 and appointed master of requests to the Council of State in 1811. Private secretary in 1813, he served Napoleon until the abdication of Fontainebleau on April 6, 1814.
