Adrian von Mynsicht (1603-1638) is a German physician and alchemist. In his Thesaurus, he gives us his best recipes of ointments, emplatres, liqueurs for medicine. As always at this time, chemistry, alchemy and pharmacopoeia are closely intertwined.
In the Testamentum Hadrianeum following the Thesaurus, we are given in a versified form the secret of the philosopher's stone of Mynsicht.
Rare edition not spotted by Ferguson, nor Caillet.
references: Dorbon [3319 (ed. 1697) : "Ouvrage d'alchimie très rare"].
provenance: Stamp on the last guard: "Vente Flaubert". This stamp was affixed in 1931 at the estate sale of Caroline Franklin-Grout, niece of Gustave Flaubert from whom she had inherited several books and manuscript. On a guard, a signature "Grout" probably of Caroline's husband, doctor alienist.
